Poem by Wang Ching-Chih

Sorrow is the unbounded sky,
    And happiness, the stars.
My love, you and I are
The bright moon in the starry sea.

The deep roots are sorrow,
   And the green foliage, joy.
My love, those blooms growing on top
   Are you and I.

Water in the sea is joy,
   The unbounded sea itself, sorrow.
The fish swimming in the sea
Are you and I, my love.

Sorrow is the countless bee hives,
   Joy, the sweet honey:
My love, you and I are the bees
   Working so busily.
